Jinja and Sipi falls
EXPLORE MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK

- 6 days / 5 night
- Murchison Falls National Park
This tour ranges from 1 to 4 days and is one of our most popular options. We accommodate your budget and group size, so don’t hesitate to tell us what you need. We’re here to help.
NOTE: Always make sure to allow Walter’s Tours to make the bookings for additional activities for you. It is a free service we provide, ensuring you are booked with only reputable companies for rafting, abseiling, kayaking, and zip-lining.
Jinja Tour (1-2 days):
Jinja, the source of the world’s longest river, the Nile, offers amazing outdoor activities, including rafting, bungee jumping, kayaking, zip-lining, forest and nature walks. The most popular activities are zip-lining in the Mabira Forest and Nile rafting.
Activities:
These activities can be combined according to your preferences. The trip typically lasts 1-2 days, but you can add 2 extra days to visit Sipi Falls (highly recommended).
On the way:
- Waterfall hike: Stop at Sezibwa Falls, about 48km from Kampala, to visit these waterfalls on the River Sezibwa and learn about their history.
- Zip-lining: Drive to the Mabira Forest and experience zip-lining ($50 each). You can choose to camp overnight in the forest or stay in their basic bandas ($15 each). We usually organize our own BBQ where you can choose to prepare your own food. Wake up and take a walk in the forest before driving to Jinja in the afternoon.
In Jinja:
- Nile Rafting: This takes an entire day and costs $140 each. You pay the rafting company directly. We’ve used every company out there and will happily recommend our favorite.
- Bungee Jumping: It lasts a few minutes, but the stories last a lifetime! Cost is $150 each, and you pay the bungee company directly.
- Waterfall/Dam visit: Visit the only remaining waterfalls in Jinja and see the dam that took away the best white water rapids in the world.
- Riverboat Cruise: Opt for a cheaper option using a local boat to see the source of the Nile. It takes approximately 1 hour.
- Bike ride and Nile tubing: Bike around Bujagali Falls and tube on the Nile.
Sipi Falls (2 days):
Venture further off the beaten path and visit Sipi Falls on Mt. Elgon. Be sure to bring your camera because the views here are stunning. Add this to your Jinja tour for a total of 3-4 days.
Activities:
These activities can be combined according to your preferences. This trip is often 1-2 days but can be added to the Jinja tour with 2 extra days (highly recommended).
- Hiking: Enjoy a hike to see the three beautiful falls of Sipi, the highest waterfalls in Uganda. They lie on the slopes of Mt. Elgon, which straddles the border of Uganda and Kenya. After the falls, continue to a local village and immerse yourself in local culture.
- Abseiling: This is one of the most popular activities for an extra $50 each.
- Coffee Tour: Visit a working coffee plantation to learn how coffee beans become your morning cup of coffee. You walk away with a bag of coffee beans as a souvenir.
- Overnight with locals: Spend a night in a local banda (grass-thatched house). Enjoy local food and life with great hygiene!
