Day 1 – Journey to Fort Portal: Crater Lakes and Healing Waters
Drive for 6 hours from Kampala to Fort Portal, and visit crater lakes and the Nyinamwiru Healing Waters. You can also take a break from four wheels and explore the region by bicycle or on foot – nature walks around the foothills of the Rwenzori mountains are a favorite. Forest walks are also possible before returning to your accommodation.
Day 2 – Exploring the Wild West: Village Walks and Canoeing
Start with morning nature walks then drive to the Wild West of Uganda, very close to Congo. Take a village walk, canoe on the River Semuliki, and explore the community. Later, return to Fort Portal and your accommodation.
Day 3 – Scenic Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Enjoy the scenic drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park via stunning views of the Rwenzori mountains and the Albertine Rift Valley. Queen Elizabeth is home to the second greatest family of mammals in Uganda after Murchison Falls, and its landscape includes the Rwenzori Mountains, Lake Edward, Lake George, Kazinga Channel, and Congo. After a long day full of game drives, nature, and views, settle into your accommodations.
Day 4 – Chimp Tracking and Return to Kampala
If you didn’t trek chimps in Kibale, go chimp tracking in Kyambura Gorge or Kalinzu Forest, highly recommended. Later, drive back to Kampala, where you’ll arrive later in the day.
