Day 1 – Arrival and Kampala Exploration
Your adventure begins as we warmly welcome you at the airport. Please let us know your arrival time. If you arrive early, immerse yourself in the vibrant energy of Kampala with a famous boda boda city tour. Explore the bustling streets, markets, and cultural gems. Savor a delightful dinner in the heart of the city and unwind in comfortable accommodation.
Day 2 – Journey to Lake Bunyonyi via Unique Stops
Start your day early, departing from Kampala on a captivating 8-10 hour journey to Lake Bunyonyi. The duration may vary based on your desired stops.
Our first stop takes us to the Equator, only 2 hours from Kampala. Here, witness the fascinating water swirl in different directions depending on your hemisphere – a perfect opportunity for breakfast, lunch, or coffee.
Continuing for another 2-3 hours, we reach Lake Mburo National Park, one of Uganda’s smallest national parks. Encounter zebras, impalas, elands, and more, all amidst stunning natural beauty.
You may choose to spend the day exploring the park or simply enjoy lunch at a lodge situated at the park’s edge, where wildlife freely roams. Park fees are not required at this lodge.
If time allows, stay overnight in the park for a deeper exploration. Otherwise, proceed to Lake Bunyonyi, arriving by day’s end. We highly recommend this route to minimize travel the following day.
Day 3 – Gorilla Tracking Expedition
An early start takes you on a 1-2 hour journey to the briefing point for your gorilla tracking adventure. The travel duration depends on the gorilla family we are tracking.
Ruhija, the closest gorilla family to Bunyonyi, offers a convenient starting point. Families like Buhoma, Nkuringo, Rushaga, and Nsonji require a longer journey, typically 2 hours or more.
We also cater to your fitness level, helping you choose a gorilla family with trails that match your abilities. Inform us, and we’ll arrange gorilla permits and accommodations accordingly.
Track gorillas
Two places in Uganda
1.1 Bwindi – Largest forest and national park for gorillas. It’s also the most well-known on the internet and also in guidebooks. It’s a super beautiful, impenetrable forest with over 20 gorilla families. Please share your body fitness stage so we can advice according to how difficult the trail is.
2.2 Kisoro (Mgahinga Gorilla National Park which is the neighbor to volcano gorilla national park in Rwanda and Virunga in Congo)
Nyakagezi group. I like this group because at this group if you are lucky you can see Golden monkeys. It’s the only place in the world where gold meets silver.
Day 4 – Return to Kampala
Bid farewell to the enchanting wilderness as we journey back to Kampala, a 7-8 hour drive from Bwindi.
